Humankind is crossing a threshold into a digitalised world; our cities, businesses, societies, and our very species. We are laying the foundations of our digitalised future right now.
Digitalisation is a double-edged sword, offering terrific benefits, but also presenting serious environmental, social and governance (ESG) risks, which are often not well managed.
A Bigger Picture
We are swept up in digitalisation, even addicted to it. We need to step back for a much bigger and longer-term view, to ensure it is a tool for our betterment and not the end in itself.
Digitalisation must now becomes responsible, ethical and sustainable: ‘sustainable digitalisation’. We should leverage the benefits, while carefully mitigating the risks.
